We need one person to go around the Upstate and talk to people who already have solar panels on their roof about getting them cleaned and looked after.
Detail Solar has been here since 2014. Family owned, out of Greenville. We do all our own work with our own crew, and when you call the office somebody who works here answers it.
Here is what a day looks like. You get a list of neighborhoods where the houses have panels. You drive out, park, walk up and knock. When somebody answers you introduce yourself and ask when the last time was that anybody actually looked at their system. Most of the time the answer is never. Pollen coats those panels every spring, pine sap in the summer, and it costs people production they never notice losing. If they want it handled you write up the contract and our crew goes out and does the work.
You are not selling solar systems. Nobody is signing a loan. It is a cleaning.
Pay is $500 a week to start and you get that whether you sign anybody or not. On top of it, $50 for every contract, plus $1.50 for each panel on a cleaning contract. Most houses out here run 20 to 30 panels, so one signed contract usually works out to somewhere between $80 and $95 for you. Four in a week puts you around $850. Six and you are past a thousand. We cover mileage too, since you will be driving between neighborhoods all day and that should not come out of your pocket.
Before you take the job we will bring you out for a ride-along day, and we pay you for that day. You get to see what the work actually is and we get to see how you do at a door. If either one of us decides it is not a fit, no hard feelings.
A few things about us that matter when you are standing on somebody's porch. We have worked on 2,182 homes around here. Paul Sr., who started this company, was the second NABCEP certified solar professional in South Carolina. Our workmanship guarantee runs 25 years. And we will service any brand, which matters more than you would think, because a lot of folks in the Upstate bought from companies that went under and have had nobody to call since. Those turn into some of the better conversations you will have.
What we need from you is not complicated. You have to be alright being outside all day, and July here is no joke. You have to be able to talk to a stranger without making them feel cornered, because we do not do the hard sell and it would not land on this customer anyway. You need a license and a vehicle you can count on. And you need to show up, which sounds obvious until you have hired for a route job.
No solar background required. We will teach you that part and you are on payroll the whole time you are learning.
