Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled (JSDD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and helping them live meaningful, fulfilling, and independent lives within their communities. Our dedicated team provides a range of services and supports designed to promote dignity, inclusion, and quality of life.
JSDD is currently seeking a Part-Time Handyman to join our team and assist with general maintenance and repair needs across our facilities.
Qualifications: A high school diploma and experience in maintenance and repairs. Knowledgeable of machines, appliances and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
Reports to: Director of Facility Management and Operations
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, operate, or test equipment in all residential programs
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines/equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery or equipment
- Possess a basic working knowledge of HVAC systems, hot water heaters, and other household appliances
- Regularly inspect all residential programs for needed repairs
- Clean out all dryer vents in every residential program quarterly
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Assemble and install furnishings as needed
- Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- Working knowledge of basic carpentry
- Working knowledge of painting, caulking, hole and damage repair
- Able to install technology such as sensors, ring systems, etc.
- All other duties as delegated
Cooperates with all JSDD and Division of Developmental Disabilities inspections or investigations
