General Description of Position
We are excited to welcome a creative, driven, team-oriented and caring activities assistant. The activities assistant will help create and handle the logistics for daily, weekly, and monthly events in an effort to engage clients, residents, or patients. They will speak to participants to get feedback, and deliver fun, safe events. Detail-oriented and possesses excellent interpersonal and time management skills. Creates engaging activities that will appeal to the age and physical or emotional condition of the client. Excellent partnership with Health Services staff and tactful communication with residents and family members. Observant, driven, creative, and caring.
Memory care experience and/or working with residents who have dementia highly preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities for Assisted Living Activities Assistant:
1. Observing participants at events gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
2. Keeping records regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents.
3. Reporting medical concerns or observations.
4. Ensuring that events are well-provisioned, the event staff is trained and prepared, and that the event takes place on time and within budget.
5. Providing participants with instructions for the event.
6. Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.
7. Provide one to one (1:1) activities to residents as indicated in the resident's plan of care
and as needed or directed. Document the activity provided, length of time resident was engaged in the activity, and the resident's response to the activity.
8. Implement the activity program in the absence of the Activity Director or Coordinator.
9. Chaperone any scheduled activities off facility grounds.
10. Make recommendations to the Activity Director of possible improvements or new activities.
11. Deliver a copy of the monthly calendar to each resident.
12. Address, stamp, stuff and mail monthly calendars to responsible parties or family members as directed.
13. Deliver mail to residents as requested and provide assistance with opening, and reading the mail if specifically requested by the resident.
14. Encourage residents to participate in hobbies and crafts. Provide materials as necessary.
15. Make routine visits to residents and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as
necessary.
16. Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization,
relaxation, and recreation.
17. Implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs.
18. Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, advertising,
managing inventory and budgets, training and motivating volunteers or employees, and coordinating transportation.
19. Other assigned duties as needed
