Nomada Bakery is hiring part-time and full-time cooks to join our kitchen team.
Nomada is an independently owned bakery, café, and eatery located at Heritage Station in Huntington. We prepare our food from scratch and are especially known for our baked goods, empanadas, cakes, croissants, and Latin American–inspired menu. Nomada has been named USA Today’s Best Cake Shop in America, and we are looking for dependable people who care about making good food consistently.
This is a hands-on kitchen production position. Primary responsibilities include preparing recipes and empanada fillings, assembling and folding empanadas, completing production lists, and preparing customer orders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fillings, sauces, and other foods from established recipes
- Assemble and hand-fold empanadas
- Portion ingredients and finished products accurately
- Complete daily production assignments efficiently
- Prepare, package, and check customer orders
- Label, date, rotate, and properly store food
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen
- Wash dishes and assist with routine kitchen cleaning
- Communicate with coworkers about production needs and priorities
- Assist with other bakery and kitchen tasks as needed
What we are looking for
- Previous experience in a restaurant, bakery, café, catering operation, or commercial kitchen
- Dependability and punctuality
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Attention to detail and consistent portioning
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy, team-oriented environment
- Willingness to learn Nomada’s recipes and production methods
- Ability to accept direction and communicate clearly
- Availability for some weekends and holidays
Nomada is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kitchen employees typically begin around 7:00 a.m., and shifts may end between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. depending on production and closing needs. Individual shifts and weekly hours vary.
We can consider applicants seeking approximately 20 hours per week as well as applicants seeking up to 40 hours per week. As a small business, we try to be flexible when arranging schedules, while also making sure the bakery’s production and staffing needs are covered.
