Overview
ACC #50 is looking for a reliable and organized Cook to prepare healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for children in our licensed child care center. The Cook is responsible for planning and preparing meals according to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) approved menu cycle while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation. This position plays an important role in supporting the health and well-being of young children
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to the CACFP-approved menu cycle.
- Follow USDA and CACFP meal pattern requirements, recipes, and portion sizes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Store, rotate, and label food properly using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Monitor kitchen inventory and notify management when food or supplies need to be reordered.
- Complete required food production records, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served on time each day.
- Wash dishes, sanitize kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean work environment.
- Work cooperatively with center staff to meet the nutritional needs of children.
- Follow all licensing, food safety, and company policies and procedures.
Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous cooking, food service, or institutional kitchen experience preferred.
- Experience with CACFP or school nutrition programs is a plus (training provided).
- Knowledge of food safety and proper sanitation practices.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Must successfully pass all required background checks.
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
