Keesee and Sons has an immediate full time opening for a commercial estimator in our Crawfordsville Indiana office. We are a fast growing commercial construction company serving the greater west central Indiana, and greater Indianapolis area. The position of estimator includes completing quantitative takeoffs using blueprints and onsite measurements in order to develop a scope of work and price for multiple construction divisions, including steel stud framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, flooring, and painting. In addition, this position provides high level planning in advance of the project start along with budget analysis and reporting. The estimator will hand off the production of all successful bids to the production team for smooth, efficient, and profitable production.
ABOUT THE JOB - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bid Preparation (75% of the position)
● Review blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to accurately assess project breadth and requirements across multiple trade scopes: steel stud framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, flooring, and painting.
● Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and material pricing.
● Perform thorough site visits and take-offs to gather necessary measurements and identify potential challenges or unique site conditions.
● Calculate precise material quantities, labor hours, equipment needs, and other associated costs.
● Prepare detailed and accurate estimates and proposals and follow up with the client to achieve company sales targets.
● Maintain professional and friendly relationships with general contractors, developers, and subcontractors.
● Ensure sufficient bid volume to achieve company targets.
Production Hand Off (25% of the position)
● Ensure all documentation is complete for hand off to project managers, including work orders, materials specifications, and any other supporting information.
● Prepare change orders and gather customer approvals as needed.
● Prepare a schedule of values as needed.
● Track material and labor costs, and identify ways to improve bid accuracy and profitability.
● Own the outcome of your bids. Stay engaged with projects through completion of work, to see how estimates performed against actual costs for increased accuracy for future bids.
ABOUT YOU - TRAITS AND SKILLS NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS:
● 3+ years of commercial construction industry estimating required ● Familiarity with online take off programs
● Proven ability to manage a high-volume bid pipeline
● Someone looking for opportunity and real growth
● Sharp attention to detail and strong math/analytical skills
● A true sense of accountability in the projects they bid
● A relationship-builder who's comfortable networking and representing the company
● Secure in learning and using cloud-based software tools
● Ability to work independently and meet strict, tight deadlines
● Ability to pass a background check.
COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE:
● M-F standard hours, in our office
● Occasional after hours or weekends, but not typical.
● $65,000-$100,000 per year
● 2 weeks accrued PTO
● 6 paid holidays
● Mileage reimbursement when travel to sites is required
● 401K with 3% company match
Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
