Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the Assistant Registrar and Manager of Veterans Affairs Education Benefits, this position will serve as the primary contact for students using VA education benefits (500+ students) and serve as the primary School Certifying Official. This position will provide consultation and guidance to students using VA education benefits and will be a liaison between students and the Veterans Affairs Administration. The position will review claims for such benefits, submit certifications/verifications each semester, and assist students with questions related to VA benefits, in-person, over the phone, and via email. Works independently on the day-to-day operations of addressing the needs associated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, Federal policies, and state and institutional policies and regulations as related to students of military families. The position prepares records for state and federal audits (VA Compliance Surveys) as requested by the Assistant Registrar and Manager of Veterans Affairs Education benefits. This position reviews data to ensure program and student eligibility and reports any discrepancies as appropriate. It is expected that this position become familiar with and can successfully interpret and communicate complex University policies and federal laws, such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Uses independent decision-making and problem solving within complex guidelines. This position assists in other areas of the Office of the Registrar as needed.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
- Experience working in a customer service related field
- Experience with recordkeeping and/or documentation

- Experience working with veterans’ affairs or other government regulated programs
- Experience with and knowledge of chapter benefits within the VA system

Salary Information
Salary $41,121 to $50,259, Commensurate with Education and Experience
