Robinson Aviation (RVA), Inc., is seeking multiple Voice Communication System (VCS) Technicians for hands-on support for the installation, integration, operation, and maintenance of the VCS and its associated components. This role ensures that VCS equipment is deployed, configured, maintained, and restored in FAA operational facilities and Contractor locations according to technical standards and operational requirements.
Technicians work directly with system hardware, software, and network components to maintain system readiness, troubleshoot issues, and support FAA personnel. The position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow detailed procedures in a safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform installation of VCS equipment, including cabling connections to local and wide area networks, and integration with other subsystems.
· Stage systems and subsystems for deployment, including software loading and configuration.
· Support system integration and acceptance testing at company and FAA sites.
· Perform preventive maintenance on hardware and software systems.
· Respond to trouble calls, diagnose faults, and restore system functionality.
· Replace failed Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and coordinate their return for repair.
· Execute system restoration procedures, including configuration updates, patching, and resetting passwords.
· Coordinate maintenance actions with FAA Operations Control Center personnel to minimize operational disruption.
· Perform local and remote testing, running system diagnostics to identify faults and verify performance.
· Maintain spare parts inventory and track stock levels to ensure operational readiness.
· Support familiarization and hands-on training for FAA system support personnel.
· Assist in the development and updating of technical manuals, maintenance guides, and operational documentation.
- Traveling on-site is a requirement.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
· AA/AS degree with 0–4 years of relevant experience
· Experience supporting telecommunications, networked voice systems, or safety-critical aviation systems is Required.
· Experience working on Air Traffic control Tower telecommunication systems is a requirement.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
· Hands-on experience with installation, integration, and maintenance of telecommunications or aviation communication systems.
· Understanding of hardware components, LRUs, networking, software configuration, and system diagnostics.
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex system faults.
· Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and ensure compliance with FAA and Contractor standards.
· Effective communication skills to interact with FAA personnel, operations staff, and other technicians.
· Ability to travel to FAA operational sites for deployment or maintenance tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior experience supporting FAA VCS, NAS communication systems, or other aviation-critical systems.
· Technical certifications related to telecommunications, networking, or hardware maintenance.
· Experience with configuration management, preventive maintenance programs, and technical documentation development.
