JOB DESCRIPTION: Mentor
TIME COMMITMENT: 24-40 hours a week
REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor
Job Type: At-Will Employee
Pay: Starting $17.00+ an hour, based on training, education, and experience.
$1.00/hour additional Shift Differential for swing shifts (3:00pm-11:00pm)
A Mentor is directly responsible for the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational, social, safety and security needs of each student, and to work together with other staff as a team
Duties and Responsibilities:

Becoming competent in all Mentor Essentials
-
Obtaining and maintaining required certifications such as CPI, CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers, Telos Employee Handbook, etc.

Establishing healthy relationships and boundaries with students assigned to your Q

Performing assigned “eyes-on-student” Q15 checks, and documenting checks immediately
-
Coaching and Assisting students to achieve their daily basics (Cooperation, Care, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility)

Coaching and Assisting students in the accomplishment of daily chores and hygiene by working beside them, giving them support, and holding them accountable

Coaching and Assisting students with Geneva program requirements, policies, and procedures

Enforcing rules and statuses while on shift - do not hand this off to the next shift

Monitoring and carrying out consequences under the direction of the Shift Supervisor

Handing off a clean, organized, and presentable House to the next shift
-
Attending the Passdown Meeting, reviewing the Q’s and schedules, and completing Daily Charting for Q students on before the end of shift, and IR’s as required

Supporting and assisting other Telos departments in their duties (Clinical, Nursing, Telos Academy, Maintenance, Transports, PrTMS, Food Prep, etc.)

Participating on assigned committees or special assignments

Assisting with AWOLS, whether or not on shift

Calling Support Teams, and initiating and participating in CPI compliant therapeutic holds and restraints
