Job Description:
The CAD Drafter is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and preparing customer-supplied drawings for quoting and production. This role ensures all files are optimized for import into SigmaNest, where they are used to generate accurate quotations and material requirements for the Metro Steel USA sales team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Review and analyze customer-supplied drawings (various formats) to ensure accuracy and readiness for production.
· Clean, adjust, and organize drawing layers as needed for proper processing in SigmaNest.
· Review customer Bills of Materials (BOMs) to verify completeness and accuracy of material requirements.
· Create and apply string tags in CAD (part names, material grades, quantities, etc.) to support efficient import into SigmaNest.
· Generate flat patterns when required.
· Run jobs through SigmaNest optimization software to produce accurate quotes and material usage reports.
· Prepare and deliver quotation summaries and material reports to the sales team in PDF format.
· Perform basic reverse engineering or extract dimensions from sample parts when necessary.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software required.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to maintain organized digital records in accordance with company filing systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
