Overview
Growing Painting and Construction business is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and suppliers. Your expertise will help ensure projects are financially viable, competitive, and completed on time. Duties
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor needs.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, and other construction management tools to develop comprehensive project budgets.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis including material costs, labor rates, subcontractor quotes, and equipment expenses.
- Prepare detailed bids by pricing materials, estimating quantities from blueprints, and assessing project scope.
- Manage project estimates from initial concept through final bid submission while ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with clients to negotiate contracts, clarify project scope, and address budget concerns proactively.
- Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by tracking expenses against estimates and adjusting as needed.
- Review construction contracts and manage change orders to maintain profitability.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing information and ensure timely procurement of materials.
- Use construction industry experience to assess risks, identify potential issues early, and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, correspondence, and revisions for future reference.
Experience
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
- Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, or similar tools.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Demonstrated ability in cost management including material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and budget estimation.
- Familiarity with construction management software systems for project tracking and documentation.
- Solid understanding of construction site operations combined with hands-on experience in construction management or related roles.
- Excellent negotiation skills for working with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with project teams.
