A Day in the Life
Our EHS Professional/Specialist position is located in Wilmington, NC.
The compensation range for this role is $35/hr. to $40/hr. commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
Conduct field work, data collection, and reporting for a variety of environmental compliance projects including but not limited to: Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans; Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans; Hazardous Waste Stream Determinations; Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste Management Plans; Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act Reports.
Conduct onsite EHS training and inspections
Assuming task management responsibilities including technical review, coordinating supporting staff, and completion of quality documents on schedule
Participating in the company’s continuous improvement programs and providing support to team efforts
Work effectively, both independently and in a team setting
Conduct field work at client sites to collect data
Knowledgeable of regulatory standards in an environmental technical area
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs
Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops
Develop strong working relationships with clients
Performing other duties as assigned
Your Expertise and Skills
These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering or Environmental Studies; or equivalent based on years of experience
10+ years of related experience
Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, etc.)
General knowledge of environmental compliance principles
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, RCRA and DOT HazMat training certifications preferred
Candidates must be able to successfully complete and maintain HAZWOPER, RCRA and DOT training upon hire preferred
Team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Ability to work well in a team-driven environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders.
Ability to travel (60%)
