This is a non-paid, FLSA exempt, volunteer position.

The Fire Corps Volunteer Program provides motivated community members with hands-on exposure to fire and EMS operations while supporting the mission of the Cottonwood Fire Department. Volunteers serve in non-emergency operational support roles, gaining real-world experience, mentorship, and insight into public safety careers. Gain real-world exposure to fire & EMS operations, mentorship from experienced firefighters and paramedics, participation in department training and drills, insight into career pathways in public safety, and meaningful service to the Cottonwood community.
What you will do:
- Participate in department ride-along
- Assist on EMS calls under direct supervision, including carrying equipment, supporting primary assessments, taking and recording basic vital signs
- Support community events, CPR awareness, and Community Risk Reduction (CRR)
- Assist with smoke detector installation and inspections
- Help with station duties, apparatus checks, and equipment maintenance
- Complete and maintain a Fire Corps Task Book
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in fire service, EMS, or public safety
- Pass criminal background check
- Ability to work within a team and follow direction
- Willingness to attend training and community events
- Minimum commitment: 15 ride-along hours per month
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment
- Professional appearance and demeanor
