Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy industrial equipment and machinery in the field. Your expertise will ensure that equipment operates efficiently, safely, and reliably across various job sites. Duties
- Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, tractors, forklifts, and other industrial machinery using OEM specifications and schematics.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, transmission servicing, hydraulic system repairs, suspension adjustments, and tire service.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using power tools and welding techniques to meet specific operational needs.
- Diagnose electrical issues related to automotive diagnostics and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
- Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and welding gear to complete repairs efficiently in the field.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards such as air brake systems, HVAC systems on equipment, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks and operate heavy equipment safely during maintenance or repair procedures.
Skills
- Proven dealership or service technician experience working with OEM parts for Caterpillar, John Deere, or similar brands.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC components, and suspension systems.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering.
- Ability to perform automotive repair tasks such as brake repair, alignment adjustments, tire service, and vehicle maintenance on farm machinery or industrial equipment.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and power lifting devices safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus for understanding machine functionality during repairs.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients on-site about repairs or maintenance needs.
- Ability to work independently in the field while adhering to safety protocols related to heavy lifting and hazardous materials.
