Job Overview
Phōs My Greek American Kitchen in Catskill is looking for a new line cook to join our team. We are located in the heart of the village of Catskill. It is a fasted paced job, serving quality local ingredients. The job is open to all applicants (even if you haven't worked in kitchens before). A line cook at Phōs is in charge of their station each shift. Shifts range from 8-10 hrs. You will get to be part of a proactive and positive team!
Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients to streamline kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation protocols
- Handle food with care, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure freshness
- Support menu planning efforts by suggesting creative ideas and assisting in the development of new dishes
- Collaborate seamlessly with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery during busy service hours
- Assist with catering orders and special event setups, ensuring timely and accurate meal presentation
Experience
- Previous experience in a food industry setting such as restaurants, catering services, or institutional kitchens is highly preferred
- Demonstrated culinary experience including food preparation, cooking techniques, knife skills, and meal assembly
- Familiarity with dietary department standards and dietary aide experience is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices is essential
- Experience in menu planning and food service operations will help you excel in this role
- Strong kitchen experience combined with excellent teamwork skills will enable you to thrive in our energetic environment
