Job Summary
The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, utensils, cookware, and food service equipment in a nursing home environment. This position supports dietary staff by ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen while complying with health, safety, and infection control regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, silverware, trays, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
Clean and sanitize kitchen work areas, sinks, floors, walls, and equipment.
Remove trash and recycling from kitchen and dining areas.
Maintain proper sanitation standards according to federal, state, and facility regulations.
Assist with receiving and storing food and supply deliveries.
Restock clean dishes, utensils, and supplies as needed.
Follow infection control, safety, and hazardous material procedures.
Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and supply shortages to supervisors.
Support dietary staff with basic food service tasks as assigned.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Interact respectfully with residents, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous dishwashing, food service, or healthcare experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of sanitation and food safety practices preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Ability to lift up to 30–50 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemicals
