As a Data Center Operator supporting various health programs, you will be trusted to work on monitoring mainframe and mid-range systems as well as disaster recovery. This role will be in Rensselaer, NY. This is a floating position to cover for additional future needs as current staff retire. This could require working shifts on the day time or night time with advanced notice. These positions are 12.5 hours 7:00 through 7:30 , Thursday through Saturday, and every other Wednesday or Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday. The chosen candidate should be able to work either one of these. Candidate will be required to obtain a security Full BI clearance.
HOW A DATA CENTER OPERATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
- Providing monitoring, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support of information systems, applications, and related peripheral hardware
- Performing all required hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules
- Keeping the task manager informed of any unusual conditions or problems encountered in the performance of daily duties
- Monitoring of systems and networks within the HPCMP Enterprise utilizing Unix/Linux workstations. Windows systems may also be used in various tasks.
- Using a variety of interactive tools and processes to determine the health of systems and networks by performing all required hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules
- Generating trouble tickets for tier 2 and 3 support. May route calls to product line specialists, application, or system support specialists.
- Maintaining and updating record and tracking databases.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma/GED; AND
- 0 or more years of experience with Mainframe applications (ZEEK, ZEBB, SA, CA and/or IBM products) in an operations team environment
- Enterprise IT proficiency
- Familiarity utilizing an ITSM tool such as ServiceNow
- Intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Exposure to or ability to learn: JCL (Job Control Language), ATL (Automated Tape Libraries), and tape media
- Ability and willingness to work any day or night shift (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Full BI background investigation clearance
- US Citizenship Required
