Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Chinese Medical Interpreter who can speak Mandarin AND Cantonese to join our team! In this vital role, you will facilitate clear and accurate communication between healthcare providers and Chinese-speaking patients, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care. Your expertise will help bridge language barriers, uphold clinical confidentiality, and support culturally competent healthcare delivery in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Provide professional interpretation services for medical consultations, procedures, and patient interactions in Chinese and English, utilizing interpretation techniques such as over-the-phone and video remote interpretation.
- Translate medical terminology accurately for documentation review, medical records, and patient education materials.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist with cross-cultural communication to promote understanding between patients and healthcare providers, respecting cultural competency standards.
- Support social work activities by interpreting during child protective services or hospital visits involving social workers or other clinical staff.
- Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting clinical recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to strict interpretation ethics while delivering exceptional customer service to diverse patient populations.
Skills
- Multilingual proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin AND Cantonese) and English is essential; additional languages such as American Sign Language are a plus.
- Extensive experience with translation, interpretation (including over-the-phone and video remote), and medical interpretation in healthcare settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, clinical cultural competency standards, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly across cultural boundaries.
- Familiarity with hospital procedures, medical records management, documentation review, and social work processes.
- Demonstrated professionalism with a strong sense of ethics aligned with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment while maintaining high-quality service standards.
