POSITION SUMMARY:
Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) assumes the responsibility for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. The LPN/LVN utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. The LPN/LVN contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes in patient care.
POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited Practical/Vocational Nurse program
- Licensure appropriate to the state the LPN/LVN is working in and the appropriate certifications to the position
- Minimum one-year previous job experience
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Current CPR certification
- Two professional references from current/former supervisors
- Citizen of the United States or proof of the right to work in the U.S.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of the care and treatment of patients and special procedures that apply to practical nursing
- Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
- Able to communicate clearly with patients, family, visitors, healthcare team, administrators, leadership and others; able to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care
- Able to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow up
- Able to record activities and document interventions
- Able to use computer and learn new software programs
- Collaborate with other health care providers and provides education to patients and/or significant others (while in compliance with HIPPA)
- Initiates or assists in CPR as required
- Participates in educational programs as requested
- Performs related duties as requested
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual will be required to pull up or reposition patients in bed for changing. The individual must be able to maneuver throughout halls in response to medical emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. In the event there is a need to evacuate the building, heavy lifting may be required to carry patients to safety.
