Position Summary
AMG is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Press Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Commack, NY. This position is responsible for operating production press equipment to manufacture precision metal components that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
The Press Machine Operator will operate machines that have been set up by qualified personnel, monitor production, inspect parts, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate punch presses, hydraulic presses, and other production equipment following established work instructions.
- Load raw materials and remove finished parts from the press.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure consistent production and product quality.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
- Identify defective or nonconforming parts and notify the supervisor or Quality department.
- Complete production documentation, inspection records, and work orders accurately.
- Maintain production rates while meeting quality standards.
- Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and free of debris.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Report equipment malfunctions or unusual machine conditions promptly.
- Assist with material handling and other production duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Manufacturing experience preferred but willing to train motivated candidates.
- Ability to operate production machinery safely following established procedures.
- Ability to use basic measuring equipment, including calipers and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating punch presses or other metal stamping equipment.
- Experience in medical device, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and basic inspection techniques.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
