American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level IV Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI, requiring 3 years of fast-paced ED experience and a full complement of emergency certifications.

Evening shift (11:00–23:00 on weekdays, 15:00–03:00 on weekends), 12-hour shifts at 36 hours per week

35-bed Emergency Department with 6 additional fast track rooms, averaging approximately 168 patients per day
-
Patient population spans neonates to geriatrics, covering all ED diagnoses including a heavy mental health census, trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVCs, falls), invasive neuro, and STEMI cases (stabilized and transferred)

Standard patient ratios: 1:4 (acuity-based) for main ED; 1:6 for fast track

Epic EMR is used; experience is expected

Alaris and Pyxis medication management systems in use

Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available

Every-other-weekend rotation required

No on-call or call-back requirements

No floating required

Active WI or compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC

Minimum 3 years of ED experience in a fast-paced emergency department setting

Most recent experience must be within the last year

Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV placement, basic critical care drip knowledge, TPA administration, blood administration, procedural sedation, and code blue experience

NIHSS experience required — certification cannot be obtained after accepting the position

Triage experience strongly preferred

At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration

Level IV Trauma Center and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center; facility is also a teaching hospital and Geriatric Accredited Center

Robust unit support includes 24/7 unit secretary, ED techs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, ED physicians, mid-level providers, OT/PT/ST, and an ED educator

Security is present 24/7; the ED is a locked unit with security stationed in the ED lobby
-
Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts on the unit

Holiday coverage required for every other major holiday

Any color professional scrubs are acceptable

Free parking is available in designated employee areas

First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis with strong ED experience

Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
