The Lead Cable Technician plays a dual role in both executing and directly managing structured cabling installations for network and telecommunications infrastructure. Serving as the primary technical and site supervisor, this position is responsible for leading on-site cable installation crews, maintaining quality control, ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations, and serving as the direct point of contact for project stakeholders, superintendents, and clients.
Other responsibilities include:
Lead, direct, and mentor on-site cable pullers and technicians, managing daily task assignments, crew timesheets, and overall personnel deployment on active job sites.
Draft daily progress reports, track project milestones, and serve as the direct point of contact for clients, superintendents, and project managers to keep work on schedule.
Attend initial site walks for government, commercial, and industrial facilities, reviewing blueprints and architectural drawings to assist with scoping and estimating.
Oversee and perform the pulling, routing, and pathway installation for Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Outside Plant (OSP), coaxial, and Single-Mode/Multi-Mode fiber optic cables.
Build out telecommunication rooms (MDF/IDF) by installing 2-post and 4-post equipment racks, cabinets, ladder racks, cable trays, raceways, and fire-stopping systems.
Neatly dress and terminate copper and fiber cables at patch panels, workstation jacks, and server cabinets in compliance with TIA/EIA standards.
Perform end-to-end testing, certification, and troubleshooting of installed cabling using advanced analyzers (e.g., Fluke Versiv/DSX series) and OTDRs, compiling test reports for customer submission.
Draft precise "as-built" floor plans, labeling schematics, and cabling documentation upon project completion.
Lead mandatory daily job-site safety meetings, perform hazard assessments, draft Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) forms, and ensure full compliance with OSHA standards.
Safely operate aerial lifts, boom/scissor lifts, and specialized vehicles while maintaining inventory, company tools, and assigned resources.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoW Security Clearance throughout employment. Personnel may be required to obtain and maintain a TS clearance
Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline.
3 years of professional experience in systems engineering.
Salary: the expected range for this position is $83,200 to $108,160 but is subject to change.
