Responsibilities:
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide personalized recommendations
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed
- Assist the dentist during procedures and maintain a sterile environment
- Document patient care and treatment plans in electronic medical records systems
- Follow strict infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique
- Conduct patient assessments and screenings for oral health conditions
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Hygienist
- Proficiency in using dental software systems, such as Eaglesoft or Epic
- Knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and explain treatment plans
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and patient assessments
- Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with dentists and other dental staff members
- Excellent manual dexterity for performing precise dental procedures
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic technique
