Position Summary
Assistant Teachers help plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of children within a safe, healthy and Christian learning environment. They encourage the involvement of the families of the children of the program and support the development of relationships between children and their families.
Duties & Responsibilities
Interact With Children:
· Utilize appropriate language, interactions, and positive discipline.
· Model positive behavior.
· Instruct and supervise children in classroom activities.
· Implement age appropriate activities that support the Ohio Early Learning & Development standards, NAEYC standards and Creative Curriculum Goals & Objectives and consistent with Christian principles.
· Implement and model family style eating during meal times.
· Continuously monitor children to ensure safety at all times, and report child abuse and neglect when necessary.
Assess Children:
· Assist with assessment of children on a regular basis.
· Take pictures and maintain anecdotal notes, written observations, and other approved forms of documentation for each child.
· Help administer screenings and assessments such as Creative Curriculum GOLD, Ages and Stages Questionnaire and the Early Learning Assessment.
Curriculum Preparation:
· Provide input for lesson planning.
· Incorporate required activities into lesson plans that support children’s development.
· Prepare activities that support lesson plans.
Communicate With Parents:
· Maintain open communication with parents by participating in parent/teacher conferences, as requested, and participating in center events.
· As a parent advocate, help resolve issues or concerns that are raised.
· Inform parents about daily classroom routine, expectations, policies, and volunteer opportunities.
· Communicate with parents about incidents that have been observed and/or recorded on site.
· Obtain all required classroom parental signatures such as on all incident reports, care plans and administration of medication forms.
Documentation:
· Help with displays for the classroom and hallways.
· Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for classroom activities.
· Help maintain up to date and accurate individual child folders with results of screenings and assessments, ETAs, care plans and medication forms.
· Maintain accurate and up to date portfolios.
Supervision:
· Support volunteers, parents and student teachers with the learning of classroom requirements.
Administration:
· Actively participate in meetings which may include management, teaching team, center, committee, and parent.
· Participate in team meetings. Communicate and share ideas and concerns with Lead Teacher(s), Director, Education Coordinator, and other management team members.
· Participate in staff In-Services.
· Engage in continuing education and professional development activities such as trainings, workshops, and classes to meet required qualifications.
Classroom Maintenance:
· Help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment including classroom, playground, muscle room and service areas.
· Clean and sanitize all surfaces, equipment, and classroom toys.
· Maintain a quality room arrangement in compliance with curriculum standards.
· Routinely check classroom equipment and materials to ensure they are in good repair.

Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Child Development Associate
OR
Career Pathways Level 2.
Incumbents must be willing to work towards an AssociatesDegree in Early Childhood Education.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
