Job Description:
The Vernon Law Firm has an immediate opening for an experienced trust and estate administration paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual.
This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Assist multiple attorneys
· Client intake including obtaining relevant and necessary information for conflict checks
· Open, maintain, scan, and organize legal files, documents, and databases
· Draft, proofread, and prepare correspondence and legal documents
· Calculate and calendar deadlines
· Ensure compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.
· Schedule appointments and maintain attorney calendar
· E-file and E-Record
· Notarize documents
· Communicate frequently via telephone, email and in-person with clients, court personnel, banks, insurance companies and other third parties
· Prepare and file probate pleadings, including Applications for Probate, Letters Testamentary/Administration, Inventories, Accountings, Petitions, Notices, and related court documents
· Assist Personal Representatives with administration duties and explain required procedures
· Prepare individual, partnership and fiduciary income tax returns
· Accounting and bank reconciliations for clients
· Scan and convert physical files to electronic format
· Some dictation
· Track billable time
Requirements:
· Strong accounting background -Bachelor's degree preferred
· Notary Public Certification is required.
· Previous experience working as a legal assistant/paralegal or in a similar role is preferred.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
· Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures is preferred.
· Proficiency in using computer software and legal document management systems.
· Proficiency in MS Office including advanced knowledge of MS Word is required
· Proficiency with Adobe or similar pdf software
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work alone as well as within a team
· Ability to climb stairs frequently
· Heavy lifting and moving of files and boxes is required.
Position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 5:30.
