Duties
- Perform capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity
- Prepare, label, and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols
- Assist laboratory staff with routine procedures, including specimen handling, processing, and storage
- Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional demeanor
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab workspace, adhering to safety standards such as proper disposal of biohazard materials
- Support laboratory operations by entering data precisely, managing inventory of supplies, and assisting with equipment calibration when needed
Experience
- Previous experience in medical laboratory work or clinical settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods such as venipuncture and blood sampling
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and patient record management
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology—especially related to geriatrics and pediatrics—enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Experience working in hospital or healthcare environments demonstrates your ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally
