Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to inform personalized care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including cardiac and urinary), phlebotomy, and sterile dressing changes with precision and aseptic technique.
- Manage acute pain through appropriate interventions and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for trauma medicine, ICU care, or emergency room cases.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, radiology procedures (including CT scans), and laboratory testing to support accurate diagnoses.
- Provide specialized care for populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and those requiring hospice or palliative medicine services.
- Support discharge planning, case management activities, and long-term care initiatives such as nursing home or assisted living facility responsibilities.
- Engage in infection control practices and maintain compliance with NCQA standards to uphold the highest quality of patient safety.
Skills
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; familiarity with trauma medicine is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; strong medical documentation skills are essential.
- Expertise in advanced nursing procedures including IV insertion, ventilator management, tube feeding, and airway management.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing processes; familiarity with CPT coding is a plus.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations involving laboratory work, sonography, or medical imaging techniques such as MRI or mammography.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations across outpatient clinics, inpatient units, home care settings or emergency departments.
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy to support effective patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and educating patients on health coaching or medication administration.
