Under the direction of the IT Manager, the IT Assistant provides IT support for the technological needs at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, including staff technical problems and service requests. The IT Assistant records problems and symptoms and maintains knowledge of relevant products and service offerings in order to provide accurate solutions and ensure the ongoing health, security and safety of all data, network access and backup systems. The IT Assistant is responsible for providing support for workstations, desktop peripherals, mobile device management, and asset tracking, as well as troubleshooting problems with applications software. Emphasis is on providing excellent customer service, building strong relationships, safety, and best work practices with the goal of delivering exceptional results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, the IT Assistant must be able to perform all the essential job duties listed below; however, this list is not intended to be all inclusive of the specific tasks that an employee in this position may be expected to perform.
· Be an ambassador for the Zoo at all times.
· Participate in IT-related projects as directed.
· Be willing to learn new IT skills including troubleshooting techniques
· Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems, including running regular checks on network and data security.
· Identify opportunities to improve and update software and systems.
· Recommend IT policy and best practice guides for the Zoo to IT Manager.
· Perform daily administration, system monitoring, and validation of key processes of enterprise systems and applications.
· Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance, performing on-site and/or remote troubleshooting, with an elevated level of customer service, through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions while effectively prioritizing and managing multiple incidents and requests as assigned.
· Perform installations, coordinate upgrades, monitor application performance, manage backup/recovery processes and disaster recovery operations, and validate security of network systems and applications.
· Research policy, precedent, and current practices prior to acting.
· Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
· Meet task completion deadlines established by IT Manager.
· Maintain accurate inventory, asset information and various other asset records in accordance with department policy and procedures.
· Run and share operation system reports with IT Manager.
· Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated with industry trends.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Must provide a negative drug test.
· Working knowledge of computer equipment and software.
· Prefer proven experience in end-user network troubleshooting tools and practices, including basic understanding of network infrastructure.
· Prefer experience with cloud computing and cloud storage.
· Must understand basic troubleshooting techniques.
· Must have strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
· Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent Certificate. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
· Must be able to read and understand directions, both verbally and in writing.
· Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, staff, leadership, and customers.
· Must be able to respond to common inquiries, requests, or complaints from staff in a kind and courteous manner.
· Must be able to communicate with staff clearly and effectively, maintaining a positive and professional tone
· Must be able to prepare clear and concise reports.
· Bilingual with Spanish is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
A large percentage of the job functions are performed in an office atmosphere. Some duties are performed outdoors in various weather conditions, ranging from rain, wind, cool to cold weather, and extreme heat and humidity. Exposure to Florida weather environments should be considered. It is possible the employee will be exposed to dust, allergens, and harsh chemicals that if not handled properly, may present a health hazard.
