Position Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of high-quality dishes according to our established recipes and standards. This position requires attention to detail, culinary skills and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen which are essential to the success of our culinary operations.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts, to meet the highest quality and presentation standards.
- Follow recipes and instructions provided by the Chef to ensure consistency and excellence in food preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist in the development of new menu items and daily specials in collaboration with the culinary team.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate food orders and ensure timely service.
- Monitor food inventory levels, notify the Chef of low supplies and assist with inventory management.
- Adhere to portion control guidelines to minimize waste and control food costs.
- Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and report any issues to the Chef.
- Participate in regular training and professional development to enhance culinary skills.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment within the kitchen.
- Follows standard recipes for all dishes to ensure proper portion control, uniformity of taste and quality.
- Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep costs within forecasted range.
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at workstation and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery.
- Plate prepared foods based on Chef’s guidance.
- Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
- Monitor food storage and product rotation to ensure the highest quality of food being served.
- Assist Chef and kitchen personnel in accomplishing closing duties and kitchen cleanliness.
- Ensure that their station is clean and that all food items are properly covered and stored at the end of shift.
- Continually look for opportunities to improve the kitchen operation for the staff and members alike.
- Participate in meetings as required.
- Ensure all legal requirements are consistently followed including state, or local laws for food safety.
- Assist other kitchen personnel in food preparation and side work as assigned by the Chef.
- Perform all other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Line Cook experience required; or similar role in a high-end or fine dining experience preferred.
- Culinary degree or certification is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and culinary fundamentals required.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment required.
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions required.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and sanitation required.
- Current food safety certification preferred.
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Polished, professional appearance and presentation required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations required.
- Ability to work a varying schedule based on the Clubs’ needs required. This schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
