Duties
- Operate cash registers (POS systems) accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card payments, and digital payments.
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or demos.
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance the shopping experience and increase sales.
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure the sales floor is clean, tidy, and well-merchandised.
- Handle cash drawer balancing at the end of each shift with precision using basic math skills.
- Maintain knowledge of store products through ongoing training to assist customers effectively.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when taking orders or answering inquiries over the phone.
- Supervise or assist in supervising team members during busy periods or while performing stock or merchandising tasks as needed.
- Support product demos to educate customers about features and benefits of new or popular items.
- Assist in inventory management by stocking shelves and participating in periodic stock counts.
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations for smooth transaction processing.
- Previous retail sales experience, preferably in grocery stores or similar environments involving retail math and cash handling.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers positively and clearly convey product information.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer needs effectively.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience or leadership qualities for guiding team members during shifts.
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques to create attractive displays that boost sales.
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for cash handling and transaction balancing.
- Familiarity with grocery store operations or retail store product knowledge enhances customer service delivery.
- Experience with product demos and upselling strategies to maximize sales opportunities.
- Excellent phone etiquette for professional communication over calls related to customer inquiries or orders.
