American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical/Neuro unit position requiring 2 years of experience and NIHSS certification.

Work in a 19-bed private room Medical Surgical unit with a general neuro focus
-
Care for a patient population ranging from young adults to geriatric patients
-
Patient population includes both medical and surgical patients as well as those with neurology or neurosurgical diagnoses
-
Unit is equipped with telemetry and oximetry monitoring

Patient ratio of 1:6

Charting is done in Epic
-
Schedule consists of 3x12 hour day shifts from 7:00 to 19:00

Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submittal

Current BLS certification required
-
NIHSS certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
-
Previous travel experience required
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Experience with telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, and cardiac dysrhythmia management preferred

Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and renal failure management preferred
-
Provide medical surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care to a diverse patient population
-
Perform skills including IV therapy, port access, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
-
Manage respiratory care including high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
-
Monitor and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
-
Provide wound care and manage isolation precautions/PPE
-
Support pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure patients

Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted

Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not accepted

Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Travel pairs or groups are not accepted

Must complete core onboarding items and labs within 48 hours of contract signing
