My Homies Kitchen is a community-driven nonprofit kitchen located in downtown Fresno. Our work is rooted in food sovereignty, community, cultural food traditions, sustainability, and using food as a tool to improve health and opportunity. We also believe in developing people our kitchen serves as a place where individuals can build real culinary skills and experience.
We are looking for a dependable and motivated Cook / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team.
Position Overview
The Cook / Prep Cook will work under the supervision and direction of our Lead Chef, helping prepare and execute dishes for our kitchen, catering operations, special events, and community programs.
This is a hands on position for someone who enjoys cooking, works well with a team, can follow recipes and instructions, and wants to continue developing their culinary skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients, vegetables, proteins, sauces, sides, and other menu components.
- Assist the Lead Chef with preparing and plating dishes.
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, preparation methods, and presentation standards.
- Complete daily food prep and production assignments.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and food-safety procedures.
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food.
- Help receive and organize food deliveries and inventory.
- Assist with catering and special-event food preparation when needed.
- Work efficiently during busy production and service periods.
- Help reduce unnecessary food waste and make responsible use of ingredients.
- Take direction from the Lead Chef and communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
What We're Looking For
Previous restaurant, catering, meal-prep, commissary, or commercial-kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider someone with strong basic cooking skills and the right work ethic.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
