Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Compensation: $31.00–$56.07 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (School Nurse) to join a school district in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, on a full-time, permanent basis. The School Nurse plays a vital role in promoting the health, safety, and well-being of students by providing direct nursing care, conducting state-required health screenings, maintaining student health records, and supporting a healthy learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care, emergency first aid, and health assessments for students, staff, and visitors.
- Organize and conduct annual Kansas state-mandated vision, hearing, and recommended scoliosis screenings in collaboration with the district nursing team.
- Coordinate and facilitate the annual Growth and Development program for sixth-grade students.
- Plan and coordinate National Children's Dental Health Month activities with Smith Dental Clinic.
- Review and process student health records, immunization documentation, and physical examinations for new enrollments.
- Enter and maintain student health information within 30 days of enrollment.
- Monitor student compliance with Kansas immunization and physical examination requirements in accordance with state law and district policies.
- Maintain accurate, confidential health records and documentation.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to promote student health and wellness.
- Support health education initiatives and contribute to a safe and healthy school environment.
Qualifications
- Active Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 2 years of school nursing experience.
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file with the District Office upon employment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred, if applicable).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong commitment to student health, safety, and continuous professional development.
