Introduction

The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Office currently has an opening for a Director of Student Success! We’re a highly engaged, collaborative team of about 50 employees with an office located at the new Hill Farms State Office Building on Madison’s near west side. The WTCS Office is the administrative service agency of the WTCS Board, which is the coordinating and oversight body for Wisconsin’s 16 public, two-year technical colleges. This position offers the ability to work remotely nearly 100% of the time, however, the employee should be available to report to the office periodically as needed.

Position Summary

This position provides statewide leadership, coordination and professional technical assistance as an Education Consultant. This role provides strategic leadership for student success across the full learner lifecycle, including post-completion outcomes such as successful transfer to four-year institutions, workforce entry and career advancement. The position ensures alignment between academic programming, career advising, employer engagement and transfer pathways to support equitable outcomes for all students across the system.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing effective strategies and initiatives technical colleges can use to support and engage their students in their learning and maximize their educational success; fostering collaboration and cooperation with other state agencies, local service agencies, community-based organizations and other educational entities nationwide; engage with relevant state and national organizations, businesses and industry to provide comprehensive and effective support services; and ensure the colleges are following policies outlined by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board including state and federal guidelines. This position provides recommendations to develop and implement support services for WTCS students through funding sources including, but not limited to, Perkins, GPR, HEA, federal and state funding and other sources. This position also focuses on Perkins special populations of students, namely disabled, veterans and foster youth.

Salary Information

The classification of this position is Education Consultant which is in pay schedule/range 13-02. The starting pay for this position will be between $39.00 - $43.00 per hour based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

WTCS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.

Possession of a valid driver's license including personal automobile insurance, or the ability to provide one’s own transportation for work purposes, is required.

Travel is required for up to 20% of this position’s duties.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

Experience leading, facilitating or coaching a team of skilled professionals
Experience planning, designing or conducting professional development opportunities for diverse groups
Experience working in student support, retention or completion

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:

Experience with designing and managing program evaluation processes
Experience working with post-secondary educational institutions
Experience with analyzing educational data
