Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent patient service and phone etiquette throughout their visit
- Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify patient insurance coverage and process payments, including medical billing and collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Manage patient records by updating and reviewing medical documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
- Assist with medical coding tasks, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and documentation review to support billing processes
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure timely communication of patient information
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and perform administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, filing, and 10-key typing with precision
- Handle phone communication professionally, managing appointment scheduling, follow-ups, and inquiries efficiently
Experience
- Proven clinic or medical office experience with a strong background in front desk or medical receptionist roles
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR (Electronic Health Records) management systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Knowledge of health insurance procedures including Medicare and Medicaid billing processes
- Experience with medical coding (ICD-9/10, CPT) and documentation review to support accurate billing and compliance
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records management software
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while adhering to HIPAA standards and clinical confidentiality policies
