Position Overview:
The Electro-Mechanical Assembler assembles, wires, inspects, tests, and adjusts precision electro-mechanical components and assemblies used in robotic semiconductor wafer-handling equipment. Working from engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, work instructions, and other approved manufacturing documentation, this position builds products in accordance with established quality, safety, and workmanship requirements.
The position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to accurately follow technical instructions and documented assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities:

- Assemble mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical components and subassemblies according to engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and work instructions.
- Position, align, fit, fasten, and adjust components to achieve specified fit, function, alignment, and tolerances.
- Install and connect components such as motors, actuators, sensors, switches, wiring, cables, connectors, tubing, bearings, linkages, and related hardware as applicable to the assigned product.
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, assembly fixtures, and other production equipment required to complete assigned work.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, specifications, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Utilize 3D Model Viewing Software to understand and comprehend complex mechanical assemblies.
- Inspect components and completed work for proper installation, workmanship, condition, dimensions, and conformance to applicable specifications.
- Use appropriate measuring and inspection tools, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and fixtures, as required by the assigned work.
- Perform basic mechanical, electrical, or functional testing and adjustment of assemblies according to established procedures.
- Identify and report defective or incorrect components, assembly problems, drawing or documentation discrepancies, and other conditions that could affect product quality or performance.
- Perform approved troubleshooting, adjustment, rework, or component replacement within established procedures and escalate issues requiring Engineering, Quality, or supervisory review.
- Accurately complete required production, inspection, traceability, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Follow applicable safety, quality, ESD, cleanliness, contamination-control, and component-handling procedures.
- Maintain tools, components, materials, and the work area in an organized condition that supports safe and accurate assembly.
- Communicate and coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Materials, and other employees as necessary to complete assigned work and resolve production issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to understand how components fit and function within an assembly.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Ability to safely and accurately use hand tools and other equipment required for assigned assembly work.
- Ability to perform detailed assembly and inspection work with consistent accuracy.
- Ability to recognize and report conditions that do not conform to established specifications or procedures.
- Basic computer skills sufficient to access work instructions and complete required manufacturing documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors and work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in electro-mechanical, mechanical, electrical, electronics, robotics, automation, or precision assembly.
- Experience reading engineering drawings, bills of materials, schematics, or technical specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring or inspection tools.
- Experience assembling robotic, semiconductor, automation, or other precision electro-mechanical equipment.
Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform work in the required sequence.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify differences, defects, improper installation, or other abnormalities.
- Manual and finger dexterity necessary for precision assembly and manipulation of small components.
- Hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness necessary to position, install, adjust, and inspect components.
- Near visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed assembly, measurement, wiring, and inspection work.
- Ability to distinguish component markings, configurations, and colors when required by the work.
- Ability to use measurements, observations, documentation, and established procedures to identify and address routine assembly problems.
- Ability to maintain accurate manufacturing and inspection records.
- Dependability and consistent adherence to quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
Tools and Equipment:
Depending on the assigned product and operation, tools and equipment may include:
- Hand and precision assembly tools
- Torque-controlled tools
- Power tools
- Calipers, micrometers, gauges, and inspection fixtures
- Assembly fixtures and jigs
- Electrical or mechanical test equipment
- Computer and electronic manufacturing documentation systems including 3D Model Viewing Software
- Other production or material-handling equipment for which the employee has been trained and authorized
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
The position is primarily performed indoors in a manufacturing and assembly environment.
While performing the essential functions of the position, an employee may be required to:
- Perform frequent precision work using the hands and fingers.
- Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements associated with assembly work.
- Reach, grasp, manipulate, position, and handle components, tools, and equipment.
- Perform work while sitting or standing, depending on the assembly operation.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, or otherwise position the body to access components or equipment.
- Maintain close visual attention while assembling, wiring, measuring, testing, or inspecting components.
- Handle and position materials, components, and assemblies associated with assigned work.
- Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently. Loads exceeding 50 lbs must be lifted with assistance from a second person.
The manufacturing environment may require use of personal protective equipment and compliance with applicable safety, electrostatic discharge (ESD), cleanliness, contamination-control, and component-handling procedures.
Any specific lifting requirement should reflect the actual weight and frequency of materials or assemblies handled in this position.
Quality and Safety Responsibilities:
The Electro-Mechanical Assembler is responsible for the quality and accuracy of assigned work and is expected to:
- Follow approved drawings, specifications, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures.
- Verify work before advancing assemblies to subsequent operations.
- Stop and report work when components, documentation, or conditions do not support safe and accurate completion of the assembly.
- Protect precision components and assemblies from damage, contamination, or improper handling.
- Use tools and equipment only as trained and authorized.
- Follow required safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- Report safety hazards, damaged equipment, defects, and nonconforming materials or assemblies according to company procedures.
