Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician: Electrical is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of Halperin Park’s facilities, infrastructure, and equipment. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across a range of systems, including electrical (low‑voltage and line‑voltage systems, lighting controls, distribution panels, and powered equipment), plumbing, mechanical, and general facilities.
This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring the park remains clean, safe, and fully operational for daily use and public events. The technician also supports event readiness by assisting with infrastructure setup and breakdown as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
General Electrical Maintenance
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repairs across park facilities, including scheduled electrical inspections, load checks, and testing of critical circuits- reducing downtime and extending asset lifespan
- Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and repair priorities, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to electrical systems including lighting circuits, outlets, breakers, control panels, conduit runs, and powered park amenities and plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper use of tools, materials, and equipment, including adherence to electrical codes, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe handling of energized components
- Respond to maintenance requests and service calls in a timely and professional manner
- Track and document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, including electrical
diagnostics and corrective actions.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of infrastructure and equipment for park events and programming, including temporary power distribution, extension runs, and safe routing of electrical cables.
- Help maintain critical systems such as lighting (interior, exterior, and landscape), electrical fixtures, power pedestals, irrigation controllers, and other operational infrastructure.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a safe and organized condition, including electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, circuit tracers, and load testers.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs when needed, including licensed electricians for high‑voltage or code‑restricted work.
- Ensure water features and facilities are operational and presentable for public use and special events.
Preferred Background and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–5 years of experience in facilities, building, or general maintenance
- Technical certification or trade training (e.g., electrical apprentice training, low voltage certification, NEC coursework, HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- CPO certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Working knowledge of at least two of the following: electrical (strongly preferred), plumbing, HVAC, or general repair, water features and splash pads
- Ability to troubleshoot and complete basic repairs independently, including diagnosing electrical faults, replacing components, and safely restoring service
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, climbing, prolonged standing)
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Experience maintaining public spaces, parks, or high-traffic facilities
- Experience supporting event setup and/or infrastructure needs
- Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems or work order tools
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
