St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church seeks a detail-oriented, welcoming, and faith-supportive Wedding Coordinator to assist engaged couples and clergy in planning and executing wedding liturgies. This role serves as the primary contact for rehearsals and ceremonies, ensuring each celebration of the Sacrament of Matrimony is prayerful, orderly, and aligned with Catholic liturgical norms and parish policies.
Key Responsibilities
Catholic Identity & Liturgical Support
- Upholds the teachings, traditions, and liturgical norms of the Roman Catholic Church
- Ensures weddings follow parish and Archdiocesan guidelines
- Collaborates respectfully with clergy, staff, musicians, and ministers
Wedding Planning & Coordination
- Serves as parish liaison for couples during rehearsals and wedding day
- Acts as church representative and staff liaison
- Coordinates seating, processional order, décor, and liturgical setup
- Confirms logistics with musicians, servers, photographers, and videographers
Rehearsals & Day-of Coordination
- Leads wedding rehearsals in a calm, organized manner
- Ensures wedding party understands processions, cues, and expectations
- Oversees ceremony execution to maintain reverence and flow
- Resolves issues calmly and discreetly
Communication & Professionalism
- Communicates clearly and promptly with couples, clergy, and staff
- Maintains accurate schedules and records
- Demonstrates hospitality, professionalism, and confidentiality
Reliability & Availability
- Available evenings and weekends for rehearsals and weddings
- Demonstrates punctuality, flexibility, and dependability
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Event or wedding coordination experience preferred
- Familiarity with Catholic wedding liturgy strongly preferred
- Supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the church
- Completion of background screening and Archdiocese Prevent and Protect STL Safe Environment Program required
