You will be working at a fast-paced company. Crayex is a trusted name in custom manufacturing since 1972. We specialize in polyethylene shrink, non-shrink, and specialty films and bags. As a family-owned company, we value experience and expertise. We are currently seeking skilled operators to join our team in Piqua, Ohio.
Set up operators are critical members of our team. As a set up operator, you will set-up the extrusion line according to work order specifications, follow resin blend recipes, safely operate machine to production target, waste, and quality standards, and trouble shoot machine when it is down or not performing to standard. You will work both independently and with a team to meet and exceed customers’ specifications and timeframes.
As a set-up operator, you'll play a pivotal role in our day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for the operation and output of assigned production lines which includes but is not limited to:

Operation of extrusion line including start-up, shut-down, changeovers, execution of order set-up, resin, color, additive blend recipes, and appropriate adjustments as specified on work orders.

Operate extruders and resin-handling equipment.

Review work orders, specifications, or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings, and adjustments.

Set machines to order specifications, make all machine adjustments, and keep machinery producing at expected quality standards.

Keep a constant check of the products being produced and the machines are operating according to our quality standards.

Proactively troubleshoot and resolve processing and equipment issues.
-
Clean dyes and screen packs.
-
Adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure.
- Responsible for labeling material and moving rolls and carts to staging area.

Assist co-workers to expedite changeovers.
-
Participate in required training as an operator learning aspects of extrusion line operations required for progression, while completing assigned duties.

Assist in the training of new employees.

Performs duties in a manner that adheres to safety policies and procedures.

Perform housekeeping and preventative maintenance tasks as required to maintain equipment and work area.

Operation of material handling equipment: forklift, hand truck, hoist, etc. Training will be provided.

Fully support, endorse and follow the guidelines of the HACCP & Food Safety Programs.

Other responsibilities as required.
OUR BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-
At least one year of blown film extrusion experience.
-
Operational proficiency in extrusion processing parameters including temperature profiles, resins and additives, blenders, scrap reprocessing, seals and perforations, bag machine and winder adjustments, printing and venting, and other auxiliary equipment.

Ability to read and interpret documents.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-
Ability to work with measuring tools such as tape measure, micrometers, etc.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
-
Solid technical/mechanical aptitude.
-
Know how to keep equipment at production and quality standards.
-
A drive to succeed and progress with a self-starter approach and a can-do attitude.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, pull and lift throughout a 12- hour period.

Lift and maneuver rolls of plastic film weighing in excess of 75 pounds.

Basic computer knowledge.
2-2-3 SHIFT SCHEDULE/HOURS:

Day and night shift positions available.

Work: Monday & Tuesday Off: Wednesday & Thursday Work: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
- Off: Monday & Tuesday Work: Wednesday & Thursday Off: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday
- 12-hour static shifts (Days: 6:00am – 6:00pm Nights: 6:00pm – 6:00am)
COMPENSATION:

Starting wage range for the position is $26.00 - $29.00. Starting wage is based on experience and performance.

Night shift differential $1.50 per hour.

Performance-based reviews and increases every three (3) months in the first year and then on an annual basis.

Overtime opportunities paid at time and a half.

Paid weekly.

Attendance bonus paid out each quarter with bonus amount doubled for perfect attendance. Bonus is based on the hours you work, placing you in control of the paid-out amount each quarter.
