We are looking for a warm, energetic, reliable caregiver to support a 22-year-old young woman with disabilities Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., beginning August 1.
She is non-verbal and has physical, visual, and developmental challenges, so she needs someone who is patient, attentive, empathetic, and always thinking about how she may be feeling or what she may be trying to communicate. She is social, active, and benefits from structure, routine, encouragement, and meaningful engagement throughout her day.
This role is ideal for someone who has a passion for working with young adults with disabilities and enjoys being out in the community, supporting therapies, participating in creative activities, and helping someone experience a full and connected day. The caregiver will begin by shadowing her at her current school program to learn her routines, preferences, communication style, and care needs.
Benefits are available.
What the Day Looks Like
The caregiver will begin the day at the young woman’s home and help her get ready for the morning. This may include supporting her morning routine, preparing breakfast or taking her out for breakfast, and helping her transition into the day.
From there, the caregiver will drive her to her school program and serve as her one-on-one aide for approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. During the program, the caregiver will help her participate in activities such as:
- Art and art therapy
- Movement therapy
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Communication activities
- Garden activities
- Group classes and social activities
- Daily transitions and participation throughout the program
After the school program, the caregiver will support her with lunch and any scheduled afternoon therapies or activities. The day will end by bringing her to her afternoon program at approximately 3:15 p.m., where the caregiver will coordinate with the next caregiver and share any important updates about her day.
