Under the guidance of The Market Executive Chef, The Market Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation, cooking and presentation of all dishes, proper portion control and plating of ordered items in the Market.
- Completes all tasks, in order, on the prep list.
- Labels and stocks all ingredients on easily accessible shelves.
- Washes, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and meats.
- Measures quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients.
- Parboils food, reduces sauces and starts first steps in various dishes.
- Adheres to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
- Tracks ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply.
- Promptly prepares dishes and proper portion control of items ordered for assigned outlet.
- Assists with the preparation, presentation, decoration, and storage of all food items.
- Communicates to his/her superior any difficulties, guest or internal customer comment and other relevant information.
- Complies with all department and company rules, regulations, policies, procedures and internal controls and government rules and regulations.
- Works in a safe manner at all times.
- Assists in other kitchens of the Casino as necessary.
- Maintains the work area clean and organized. Deep cleans the area at the end of shifts.
- Follows the proper closing procedure with cleaning and labeling.
- Attends periodic meetings and training sessions.
- Meets guests needs through timely and proper handling of all equipment and chemicals.
- Promotes positive public and employee relations.
- Presents oneself in a neat and clean appearance at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- High school Diploma or education equivalent required.
- Food Service or Culinary Arts degree preferred.
- 1 year's related culinary work experience.
- Demonstrates commitment to guest service excellence and ethical conduct.
