Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join Clallam Public Defender. The Legal Assistant provides clerical support to attorneys and staff within the Public Defender’s Office. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient case management and supporting the delivery of legal services to indigent clients.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and draft legal documents including contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with accuracy
- Answering phones and relaying time-sensitive information
- Manage case files through filing, data entry, and document management systems to ensure all records are up-to-date
- Conduct thorough legal case management by organizing case materials and tracking deadlines
- Maintain accurate and confidential case files and records
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, and the public
- Ensure compliance with office procedures, court deadlines, and confidentiality requirements
Qualifications
- Strong technology and interpersonal skills
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear legal drafts and proofread documents meticulously
- Exceptional organizational skills for managing multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and coordinating with team members
- Ability to handle data entry tasks accurately while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 28.0 per week
