Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Weekend Caregiver to provide one-on-one care for a bedbound veteran in the home setting. The caregiver will assist with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), mobility support, repositioning, personal hygiene, meal preparation, feeding assistance, safety supervision, and light housekeeping. The ideal candidate must be patient, attentive, and comfortable working with total-care clients requiring hands-on assistance and Hoyer lift transfers.
Client Care Needs
- Dressing assistance
- Hair grooming and personal hygiene
- Bed baths/tub bathing assistance
- Feeding assistance
- Bed mobility and Hoyer lift transfers
- Toileting and incontinence care
- Repositioning to prevent skin breakdown
- Safety supervision and monitoring
- Meal preparation and nutrition support
- Light housekeeping and cleaning
Responsibilities
- Assist the veteran with all ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and repositioning.
- Safely perform transfers using a Hoyer lift and provide proper bed mobility support.
- Monitor for changes in condition, skin integrity, comfort level, and overall well-being.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding while following dietary guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment.
- Provide compassionate companionship while preserving the veteran’s dignity and comfort.
- Follow all care plans, safety protocols, and HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Experience caring for bedbound clients preferred.
- Experience using Hoyer lifts and transfer equipment required.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Knowledge of pressure sore prevention, repositioning techniques, and incontinence care.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate attitude.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality required.
- Prior home care, hospice, nursing home, or veteran care experience is highly desirable.
