Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, and chopping according to recipes and safety standards
- Assist with menu planning and portioning to ensure consistency and efficiency in food production
- Support cooking activities by organizing ingredients and equipment needed for meal preparation
- Follow strict food handling procedures to maintain hygiene and safety standards in compliance with health regulations
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen tools throughout shifts
- Collaborate with culinary team members to ensure timely meal preparation and service
- Support catering events and special meal requests by preparing ingredients ahead of time and assisting with assembly
Experience
- Previous dietary department or dietary aide experience preferred but not required; training provided for motivated candidates
- Familiarity with food industry standards including food safety management, sanitation practices, and kitchen safety protocols
- Experience in restaurant or food service environments demonstrating strong knife skills and slicing techniques
- Knowledge of menu planning, meal preparation, and cooking techniques across various cuisines
- Background in catering or large-scale food production is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
- Strong understanding of safety standards in production environments and food handling procedures
