The Certified Pharmacy Technician provides pharmacy services to patients and medical practitioners. Assisting with potential oversight, monitoring, preparation, dispensing and proper documentation of patient medication therapy as well as providing drug information, patient information and oversight of information and dispensing systems. Assist with compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations as well as proper storage and documentation.
Reports To: Pharmacy Manager

Perform all duties that a Certified Pharmacy Technician is able to by law under the supervision of a veterinarian to keep the hospital running smoothly and efficiently.

Reviewing patient chart for refill requirements, confirms dosage, document, fill, and charge out client.

Working with outside vendors to review charts and approve or deny medications based on hospital criteria.

Receiving prescriptions over the phone, inperson, and via online portals.

Maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Organizing medications for doctors to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling oral and subcutaneous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.

Client communication including but not limited to; answering incoming pharmacy calls, relaying prescription instructions and answering related client questions, and more.

Be knowledgeable of and complete daily activities including:

Maintain up to date patient records as it relates to patient prescriptions.

Triaging calls from clients for prescription requests

Communicating with doctors for refill approvals in a professional and timely manner.

Contribute to team health and engagement by being supportive, assisting with new hire training and attending and contributing to team meetings.

Requires good handeye coordination, armhandfinger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
Required Education/Licenses: Current Ohio license/certificate to practice as a Pharmacy Technician. 1 year of experience is preferred.
