Overview
Assist Firm clients in various immigration matters, including asylum cases, requiring court appearance, VAWA petitions, and other employment and family based petitions. We are offering initially a part-time associate position which could grow into a full time position in the future.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on immigration options, including visas, green cards, asylum, and citizenship applications, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the process
- Prepare and review legal documents such as petitions, affidavits, and supporting evidence with meticulous attention to detail
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current on immigration laws, regulations, and precedents
- Represent clients in administrative hearings, interviews, and court proceedings related to immigration status adjustments or removals
- Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas such as family law, employment law, and criminal law to provide holistic legal support when needed
- Negotiate with government agencies on behalf of clients to facilitate favorable outcomes
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with all legal administrative requirements
Skills
- Practical knowledge of immigration law procedures, policies, and regulations
- Experience with legal research platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Familiarity with related practice areas including estate planning, corporate law, and contract law
- Legal administrative experience to handle case documentation and client communication professionally
