Advanced Medical GI (AMGI) is a comprehensive gastroenterology practice serving the needs of patients in the Northem Virginia and DC suburbs. We specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and conditions affecting the digestive system. Dr. Richard Blosser and his team of Nurse Practitioners are medical specialists who have received advanced training in gastroenterology, which involves the study of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. We have provided care for over thirty years in the Northern Virginia region.
Overview
We are seeking a certified Medical Biller/Coder with a minimum two years' medical billing experience OR no certification with five years' experience to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office by providing exceptional Medical billing/administrative support. This role will be paid as a 1099 contractor.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate codes using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems
- Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on any denials or discrepancies
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
- Produce Billing reports on demand
- Post all payments daily to the patients' charts by Epost and insurance portals
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for billing purposes.
-Initiate patient collections by verifying the patient balances are valid and accurate and communicate the amount owed by verbal communication, text, and email.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations
- Answer and return phone calls pertaining to billing matters
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Office Manager
Skills:
- Proficient in medical billing software and electronic health record systems (Allegiance MD)
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding principles and guidelines
- Knowledge of Ambulatory Surgical Center and Medical office billing practices
- Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of insurance claim submission processes including any resubmissions due to denied claims
Requirements:
- Certification in medical billing and/or coding (CPC, COC, CPB, etc.) OR minimum 3+ years of experience in medical billing/coding, preferably in Ambulatory Surgical Centers
- In-person attendance. Must be able to commute to our precise location. No remote workers.
- Attend weekly billing meetings and provide accurate reporting to management.
