Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Journalist/Videographer to cover local news in the Reno area. This is an on-the-ground reporting role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable live streaming from active scenes. The ideal candidate is confident on camera, organized, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Report on breaking news and local stories in Reno and surrounding communities
- Capture high-quality video footage in the field
- Conduct on-camera and off-camera interviews
- Provide live-stream coverage from news scenes
- Research and assist with story development
- Travel within Nevada as needed for assignments
- Coordinate with editorial team regarding story updates and coverage plans
Requirements
- Experience in journalism, reporting, broadcasting, or videography
- Comfortable with live streaming and on-camera reporting
- Strong communication and storytelling skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Reliable transportation to office and field assignments
- Ability to travel within the State of Nevada
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work independently in dynamic or high-pressure situations
Equipment
Professional filming equipment will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior live news or field reporting experience
- Familiarity with Reno and Northern Nevada communities
- Experience with digital publishing and social media platforms

Pay: $54,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year

- You may choose a news story, local event, current event, or another topic that demonstrates your reporting and on-camera communication skills.
- We are primarily evaluating your on-camera presence, communication skills, confidence, and reporting style. Professional production equipment is not required.
