Job Title: Interventionist

Salary Schedule: State Salary Schedule; CHCCS Salary Page

Reports To: School Principal

Salary Grade: Instructional Support

Work Location: Carrboro Elementary School

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: 10 Month

Position Summary

The goal of the Intervention Specialist is to provide direct support and intervention to students in grades K-12 who need additional support in reading, writing, and/or mathematics and to provide leadership, collaboration, and support to teachers towards designing and implementing intervention strategies.

Essential Duties

Provides small group instruction or interventions, collaboratively in the classroom or in a separate setting, to non proficient or fragile students in reading, writing, and/or mathematics using research-based models
Provides expert knowledge about best intervention practices, instructional strategies and practices to classroom teachers for implementation as applicable
Serves on the Student Support Team to assist in the development of intervention strategies and plans
Promotes and models peer collaboration
Collaborates with classroom teachers in grades K-5 to assist in the development, administration, and analysis of assessments
Monitors formative and summative student assessments to plan instructional programming to meet the needs of students served
Collaborates with school administration to determine student service plans/schedules.
Implements test-prep strategies with identified students, as needed
Assists classroom teachers in the development of proficiency portfolios for reading, writing and mathematics
Perform related duties as assigned by the School Principal
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Education/Experience Requirements

Valid N.C. teaching license required
Reading licensure preferred
Master's Degree or advanced studies in curriculum and instruction, reading, mathematics, science or related field preferred
Bachelor's Degree required
Prior successful experience as an elementary classroom teacher.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
Other qualifications that are acceptable to the Board of Education

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
