About the Role
Our client is seeking a Billing Specialist to hire on a Direct Hire basis in Anderson, Indiana.
The Billing Specialist will run monthly reports from the system and submit them to customers via email. In addition to producing bills, this position maintains any correspondence with customers regarding their monthly premium billings.
$20 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage billing activities for approximately 20–24 customers.
- Review information from claims and billing software to prepare accurate customer invoices, utilizing automated processes as well as manual calculations when needed.
- Enter invoices, checks, and customer deposits into QuickBooks.
- Prepare and approve bank activity and deposits through the company’s online banking system.
- Review the Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet to ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounts.
- Assist with account reconciliation and other general accounting activities as needed.
- Support year-end accounting activities and provide assistance during the annual financial audit.
- Learn and take on additional accounting and billing responsibilities as proficiency develops.
- Work primarily behind the scenes with minimal direct customer interaction or phone responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Previous experience with QuickBooks, journal entries, and general accounting functions.
- Experience performing checking account and/or bank reconciliations.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills; Accounts Payable, bookkeeping, or similar accounting experience is preferred.
- Understanding of basic debits and credits, including applying credits or adjustments to customer accounts.
- Intermediate Excel skills with the ability to work comfortably with spreadsheets and large amounts of data.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, stay focused, and maintain accuracy in a quiet, heads-down work environment.
- Coachable and eager to learn, with the ability to take on additional responsibilities as skills develop.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling financial and confidential information.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Team-oriented and willing to contribute to a positive, supportive work environment.
